How to Make a Green Thai Iced Milk Tea - another Thai classic!

Updated: Oct 21

If you thought Thai Iced Milk Tea was special, wait until you try the green version. Made with the authentic ChaTraMue Green Thai Tea Mix, this recipe is creamy, sweet, and unlike anything else you’ve tasted. It looks a little like matcha, but the flavour is completely different - fruity, floral, and almost candy-like. In Thailand, you can sometimes find it at street vendors, but it’s much rarer than the orange classic. In this post (and the full video tutorial), I’ll show you how to make it at home, street-food style.

Pro Tips

  • Batch prep: Brew a larger amount in a French press and keep chilled for up to 1 week.

  • Safer storage: Transfer condensed/evaporated milk from metal cans into glass jars once opened.

  • Customise: Try less sugar if you want a lighter taste as this tea is naturally sweet.

FAQs

Q: Does this taste like matcha?

A: Not at all. The flavour is fruity and floral, unique to the ChaTraMue green blend from Thailand.

Q: Can I skip sugar?

A: Yes, it’s optional. Condensed milk already makes the drink sweet.

Q: What’s the best ice?

A: Crushed ice is the most authentic and gives the best balance as it melts.
