How to Make a Mango Fruit Tea Using Syrup

Updated: 3 days ago

In this post (and the full video tutorial), I’ll show you how to make one of the simplest and most refreshing drinks you can make at home or in your shop. It combines the floral notes of jasmine green tea with the tropical sweetness of mango syrup. The result is bright, fruity, and perfectly balanced — a classic fruit tea that works in any season.

Origins of Mango Fruit Tea

Fruit teas became popular in Taiwan in the 1980s as bubble tea shops began experimenting with tea bases and fruit syrups. Mango quickly stood out as a crowd favourite for its sunny, tropical flavour. Today, you’ll find mango fruit tea in almost every boba shop, often paired with jasmine green tea for its light floral aroma that complements the mango perfectly.

Flavour Profile

  • Base: Light, floral jasmine green tea

  • Highlight: Sweet, juicy mango syrup

  • Sweetness: Fructose or sugar syrup rounds out the flavour

  • Overall experience: Refreshing, tropical, and naturally fragrant

Quick Facts

  • Prep time: 10 minutes

  • Steep time: 7 minutes

  • Serves: 1 (about 350 ml or 12 oz)

  • Taste: Fruity, floral, and balanced

Ingredients

  • 21 ml mango syrup (3 pumps)

  • 7 ml fructose syrup (1 pump)

  • 100 ml brewed jasmine green tea (see below)

  • 50 ml very hot water

  • 150 g ice

  • Optional toppings: boba pearls, popping boba, fruit bits

Tall glass of iced orange drink with pineapple chunks, orange pearls, and mint garnish on top, set against a plain white background.

To Brew Jasmine Green Tea (single serving)

  • 1½ Tbsp jasmine green tea leaves

  • 150 ml hot water at 70 °C (158 °F)

  • Steep for 7 minutes, then strain to yield about 100 ml brewed tea.

Instructions

  1. Prepare the syrups

    • Measure mango syrup and fructose into a shaker.

  2. Add tea and hot water

    • Pour in the brewed jasmine green tea and 50 ml very hot water. Stir well to dissolve and release the flavour of the syrup.

  3. Add ice

    • Add one scoop of ice, about 5–6 large cubes (150 g).

  4. Shake

    • Shake for 1–2 minutes until the outside of the shaker forms condensation.

  5. Assemble and serve

    • Add your favourite toppings to the cup.

    • Pour the shaken tea over the toppings and seal or cover.

    • Serve immediately.

Pro Tips

  • Use Batch Recipe: Jasmine Green Tea Base for café preparation.

  • Brew green tea at 70 °C for the best floral aroma — water that’s too hot can make it bitter.

  • For variety, try substituting the green tea with Assam black tea for a richer flavour.

FAQs

Q: Can I use fresh mango instead of syrup? A: Yes, but the texture and sweetness will differ. Syrup gives a smoother, more consistent flavour like café-style drinks.

Q: What other teas work with mango?

A: Green tea is the classic choice, but oolong and black tea pair beautifully with mango too.

Q: Do I need fructose?

A: It’s optional. You can replace it with sugar syrup or honey if you prefer a more natural sweetener.
